Crocus sativus bulbs of size 11/+
The Crocus sativus bulbs of size 11/+ are the largest saffron bulbs in our range. The bulbs in this size have a circumference of at least 11 cm.
During the sorting process, all bulbs larger than size 11 end up in this selection. This means that it is even possible that you will find bulbs with a circumference of 14 or 15 cm in your order.
The average diameter of these bulbs is between 3.5 and 4.5 centimeters.
Healthy and strong bulbs
Our saffron bulbs are grown in the Netherlands on fertile sandy soils that naturally have a high humus content and a rich soil life. This ensures that the bulbs contain a high content of nutrients, which benefits the development and the natural resistance of the bulbs against diseases and pests.
During the cultivation of our Crocus sativus bulbs, we try to limit the use of chemical crop protection and fertilizer to a minimum in order to be able to offer you a most sustainable product.
Quality saffron bulbs
The cultivation of our saffron bulbs is under the control of the Dutch flower bulb inspection service, the BKD. The Crocus sativus that you buy from us are qualified with class 1 on the basis of the implementation guideline for Species-Crocus.
The BKD is commissioned by the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) to inspect the quality of all flower bulb crops grown and traded in the Netherlands.
