Deposit ordering

Order Crocus sativus bulbs with a deposit payment

For larger orders of Crocus sativus (saffron) bulbs, you can reserve bulbs in advance by paying a deposit. Ideal for growers, farms, and resellers who want to secure size and quality before the shipping season starts.

Standard deposit 20%

Flexible deposit rate

The standard deposit rate is 20 % of the total order value, but this amount can be adjusted to your needs depending on order volume, customer history, or special agreements.
Paying a deposit ensures that your bulbs are reserved and grown specifically for your order. Once the deposit is received, we confirm your reservation and schedule your bulbs for the upcoming shipping season.

Early reservations help us plan production accurately and give you priority when selecting organic or conventional quality and the desired bulb size (7/8 – 11/+).

Ordering windows

Our deposit ordering window runs from November through July. During this period, you can secure your bulbs with a deposit payment.

From July to September, all new orders must be fully prepaid before shipment, as bulbs are prepared for dispatch and no longer reserved in advance.

Our Shipping season starts around July 27 each year.

Key terms

Important conditions (summary)

Quick overview of our deposit ordering terms.

Deposit rate

The standard deposit rate is 20 % of the total order value.

This amount secures your Crocus sativus (saffron) bulbs for the coming season and confirms your reservation. Larger or recurring wholesale orders may qualify for individually agreed conditions.

Deposit due date

The deposit must be paid within 14 days after receiving the first invoice.

Once the payment has been received, your reservation becomes valid and your bulbs are officially scheduled for delivery in the selected shipping period.

Payment methods

Payments are accepted primarily by bank transfer, which is our standard method.

We also accept PayPal, credit card, and other secure online payment options upon request.
Please note that additional transaction fees may apply for these alternative payment methods.

Balance due date

The remaining balance is due no later than 7 days before dispatch.

This allows us to prepare, inspect, and pack your saffron bulbs in time for export or domestic shipment.

Reservation confirmation

Your reservation is confirmed after receipt of the deposit payment.

From that moment, your bulbs are reserved specifically for you and prepared according to your selected size and quality preferences.

Change quantities / size

Changes are possible until June 30 (subject to availability).

Any modification in quantity or bulb size may require recalculation of prices and updated export or invoice documentation.

Cancellation

The deposit is non-refundable, except where otherwise agreed with us in writing.

Because bulbs are cultivated and reserved individually for each customer, confirmed reservations normally cannot be cancelled.

Non-EU exports

Shipments outside the EU require a phytosanitary inspection and certificate (€ 185).

Some countries may also need an import permit. The buyer is responsible for obtaining all necessary import documentation before shipping.

Shipping season / start

The shipping season begins around July 27 each year.

Exact dispatch dates are listed in your quotation or invoice and may vary depending on harvest and weather conditions in the Netherlands.

VAT

EU customers: VAT is applied according to the delivery country.

EU businesses with a valid VAT number can buy tax-free after VIES verification.
Non-EU customers are not subject to VAT, but may need to pay import duties or local taxes upon arrival.

Transfer of title

Ownership of the bulbs transfers only after full payment has been received.

Until that time, all Crocus sativus bulbs remain the property of Bloembollenbedrijf J.C. Koot (sativus.com) and are safely stored in our facilities.

Force majeure & crop conditions

In case of crop failure, shortage, or other circumstances beyond our control, we will offer a suitable alternative or refund.

Our saffron bulbs are agricultural products, and final availability may depend on weather and harvest outcomes.
